OUR HISTORY
The Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company was chartered on March 3, 1967. At the time, the small community of Collinsburg, located in Rostraver Township with a population of 400, felt the need for local fire protection. Up until this time, the community depended on the West Newton Volunteer Fire Company and the Rostraver Central Volunteer Fire Company for all of its emergency needs.
The first fire apparatus in the company was a 1939 American LaFrance engine purchased at a price of $2000 from the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Company. The first truck was placed in a garage built onto the old Collinsburg School, which would become the home of the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company.
Forty years later, the CVFC is still growing from those humble beginnings that the charter members pioneered in 1967. Many additions to the building, including a new bingo hall that seats several hundred patrons and a fleet of six fire apparatus make the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company a community based vision come alive on a daily basis.
