The evening of Wednesday June 17th was the second consecutive day for heavy thunderstorm activity in Westmoreland County.  At 21:50 several boats from the Yough River area were sent to assist in the central part of the county for extensive flooding and water rescues.  Boat 103 (Collinsburg), Boat 17 (Smithton), and Boat 107 (Turkeytown) were sent to Station 57 (Irwin) to stand by for deployment.  Within minutes of arrival all three boats were directed to take part in local emergency operations.  Boat and Service 103 responded to Manor Borough to assist in two physical rescues of people trapped in vehicles that were caught up in the flood waters.
