The weekend of February 5th brought record snowfall to the local region and along with it a record number of calls for the members of the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company. In just four days the volunteers ran a total of 90 calls. These included numerous wires and trees down, public service calls, vehicle accidents, a landing zone, a RIT assignment, and one working house fire. Thankfully during the storm our station remained powered up and became the warming shelter for both Rostraver Township and West Newton Borough. During the first two days of the incident the station had no less than twenty members at any given time volunteering to feed people in the warming station, accommodate our displaced guests, and of course respond to fire and emergency calls.
Stat landing at our station to transport a patient with a head injury.
Bill, Alan, and Fred rest in the radio room as they await the next assignment.
Carol Patterson and Cliff help prepare food for our guests in the warming station.
